What is D3O Smart Foam? D3O is a shock absorption material. In its raw form, the material’s molecules flow freely, allowing it to be soft and flexible, but on impact, the molecules lock together to dissipate impact energy and reduce transmitted force.
D3O Demo Kit
The D3O demo kit comes with 2 foams (1 traditional or basic hockey foam/pad and 1 D3O foam in its processed state) 1 case of D3o in its raw state, a small metal hammer and 1 small metal ball.
The items provided allow anyone to gain a simplified understanding of what the differences between D3O and standard foams are. Most importantly, you quickly understand the benefits D3O and why CCM have added this to their protective equipment.
D3O in its raw state feels like goo, very flexible and mouldable. One of its unique properties is that high impacts cause the molecules in the D3O to stiffen up. Our video above will show D3o’s properties in more details with a few test examples.
