While skating at a speed your comfortable lifting one leg off the ice, start by lifting your dominant leg off the ice putting all your body weight in your other leg (my dominant leg is my right, so all my weight at this point will be in my left leg) and place it down on the ice just in front of your other skate.

.

.

.

Next your will need to lift your (in this case left leg โ€œnot the dominant oneโ€) leg and rotate it slightly leaving both your skates in a โ€œboomerangโ€ shape

.

.

.

.

Next lift up your non-dominant leg and place it next to your dominant leg (making sure they are parallel to each other).

.

.

.

.

Should be facing the opposite direction you were travelling in, you can control the direction you end up in after performing the transition by changing where you place your dominate leg at the end of the transition, the direction the back of the blade is facing is the direction you will be travelling in.

.

.

.

After placing your dominate leg in the direction you want to travel in, make sure your non-dominant leg is parallel to it.
